A Quick Show and Tell

I am a real fan of Blackbird Designs and follow Alma's blog with some regularity.
Alma recently posted a tutorial on using fabric to cover paper mache boxes.
I couldn't help myself I had to whip one up, I thought I would share with you the outcome.
It took no time at all , in case you are wondering, no ,I didn't cut up one of my samplers, I simply photocopied it as per Alma's instruction
Go check out Alma's blog and see for yourself, the instructions are easy to follow. I am sure there will be a few made for your stitching friends.

see you soon
in the meantime
happy fabric box making

Oh gorgeous. Planning on doing one myself this weekend. Have the box but I'm going to get some fabric later - I'm going to do one a la Kaffe. Don't you just love Alma's blog?

I read the instructions earlier in the day and am interested in trying the project. I recently made a fabric covered box with a pin cushion on top but the pin cushion is too heavy for the lid. I don't have a sampler to copy onto paper. I will have to think about that.

That's really lovely Jean, I'm going to have to have a go at this one. I had seen it on the blog and loved it too. I'll have to think about what to put on the inside, maybe I'll look at scrapbooking papers.

I scooted right on over from Blackbird Designs so that I might tell you how lovely your sewing box turned out. I would say you passed 201. Like your choice of fabrics and now I have your blog bookmarked. Louise

My first visit to your blog but not my last. I, too, came over from the BBD blog to say what a wonderful box! Your friends are going to be so lucky to receive one of these from you.

I just found your blog via the link from Blackbird Design's. I love the name for your blog. My favorite fruit is Raspberry. It is a great title. I really like the box you did, you hav inspired me to make on for the ornament exchange that my stitching guild has each year. Gone are the days of the gift bag for me. I really love the trellis hedge that Mr. L&R did. Please tell him for me,I think he is another Fredrick Law Olmsted. I have studied how to do them but have never tried. You are one blessed and fortunate women for a husband that loves to do such things in the garden. Thank you for sharing via posting.

Wow! That box turned out so nice. The outer fabric almost looks quilted. I will have to try making one of these.
