A Thing for Pears and a Giveaway

I have always had a thing for pears. I love to cook desserts that include pears, I love to use them as decoration around the house. Pears and pear shapes will often find their way into my needlework , and of course pear fabric will always find its way into my stash. and so the love of pears continues into the sewing room , Heather Bailey has a pattern called Fresh Picked , which among other things includes a pattern for a pear pincushion.

I have made a few of these pear pincushions lately and figured that maybe you would like one to have in your sewing room.

Made from Linen and Raspberry Toile it also has a small pear shaped needle case to keep it company.

If you would like to be included in the draw please leave me a comment , you may even have some pear stories to share.

I will keep this open until Saturday 25th July (Christmas in July) for us here in the Southern Hemisphere, with some luck who knows we may even have some snow :-).

Until next time

Happy Sewing

These are lovely and I could really use a nice pin cushion. I have an old hard one that just doesn't make me happy --- but it works so I use it.

I love pear shapes, too. But there are so many fruits and vegetables that I find appealing in terms of color, shape, and design. For example, artichokes, cherries, berries, lemons and limes, etc. The linen and raspberry fabric looks great in these adorable sewing accessories!

Jean, your choice of linen and

My aunt and uncle have owned pear ranches in Ukiah California for years and years. I remember going there during the summers and coming home with boxes of pears that made our car smell so wonderful. I used to bottle pears when my family was young, but when we moved to Southern Utah I gave away all my equipment.

Your pear creations are very pretty. I would love to be included in your giveaway.

I have a burro (from the Grand Canyon) and a paint horse who both love to come in my back yard. It's the pear tree! My dh either picks pears for them or shakes the tree for the uppermost pears to let loose for the animals. We seldom eat the pears (although we love them ourselves) as we love to spoil our furry kids with them. We can always go to a produce stand and buy more...the animals can't. That's my pear story, hugs from Elaine in Texas. http://soggybottomflats.blogspot.com/

I didn't realise so many of us were into pears. I have a couple, one in particular was given to me by a very special friend and this gorgeous blue ceramic pear with a silver leaf resides on my kitchen windowsill where I see it when I am working.Friends are special people aren't they? I havent got one sitting at my sewing table though and this lovely raspberry and linen one would be gorgeous. Thank you for giving us a chance to win it. I love the linen you use.

That is so cute. We love to dehydrate pears when they are in season with the idea that we will have them all year to nibble on. The truth be known, they really only last a few months because we just can't leave them alone and we have to wait then for the next peat season. Williams and Burri Bosc are my favourite varieties.

Blessings Gail
